The ORUS is entering a new era

The introduction of Simpler Recycling legislation in March 2026 has had a monumental impact on the approach to food waste collections across the UK. Food waste is now considered its own separate stream, and as such local authorities and private contractors all over the country are having to adapt their services to accommodate this need accordingly. One considerable change is the increased requirement for specialist recycling vehicles (SRVs) purpose-built to tackle the unique demands of food waste. The new additions to our ORUS family of vehicles are ideally placed for exactly this purpose.

At RWM back in September, we introduced several new innovations to the UK market from our stand, including our brand-new ORUS 11HD vehicle. Fully aware of the significant impact Simpler Recycling is still having on waste collection services across the country, we decided there was no better time to officially unveil the next generation of our highly regarded specialist food waste vehicles. The ORUS 11HD maintains the same popular, tried-and-tested features and architecture of our wider ORUS portfolio with one key difference: is the first of the family specifically developed to target commercial collections.

This is largely down to its considerably increased payload capacity. Offering a body volume of 11m3, a whole 4m3 more than its 7m3 alternative, the ORUS 11HD is now able to provide a currently market-leading payload of 7.8 tonnes. This makes it the perfect choice, not only for daily domestic waste collections, but larger, bulkier loads for more challenging commercial collections. Its leakproof, watertight body was designed specifically to optimise liquid retention, preventing any leachate from spilling out onto our nation’s roads and ensuring food waste is collected and transported with ease. Thanks to robust, corrosion-resistant steel, it’s also built to last, making it a great option for glass collections.

In fact, the ORUS 11HD was developed with both food waste and glass in mind – capable of semi-compaction loading, the SRV gives operators the flexibility to maximise the full volume of their vehicle’s body by either compacting or not compacting their waste as needed. It even achieves all of this in a minimal chassis footprint, able to be mounted to a compact 16-tonne chassis that maximises payload while maintaining essential manoeuvrability. Primed to handle bins from a 120ltr – 1,280ltr capacity thanks to an integral hydraulic lift, the ORUS 11HD gives you all the additional capacity you need on a daily basis.

“With Simpler Recycling legislation driving increased volumes of organic waste collection across the UK, we have introduced the ORUS 11HD to help operators maximise payloads and improve collection efficiency,” said Kevin Forbes, General Sales Manager at Terberg Matec UK. “It is the only fully sealed, tipping waste collection body of its volume on the market, making the ORUS 11HD a class-leading, game-changing vehicle for waste and recycling operators.”

One step further: ORUS 14HD

Also on the horizon is another new ORUS product – the ORUS 14HD. This pushes the envelope even further for your organic waste and glass collections, with a 14m3 leakproof body and market-leading payloads in excess of 8 tonnes. Available on an 18-tonne chassis, it takes commercial collections to the next level, redefining what’s possible for your waste. Built and designed upon the foundations of the existing ORUS portfolio, the ORUS 14HD only continues to strengthen the scope of the family while maintaining essential familiarity.

Both the ORUS 11HD and ORUS 14HD are also compatible with dynamic bin weighing and RFID systems, enabling fleet managers to gain even greater value from their waste by accumulating actionable data and fleet tracking information in real-time. The only fully sealed, tipping waste collection bodies of their size available on the market, they are changing the game for better, bigger, and bolder organic waste and glass collections.

The ORUS 11HD will be available for operational demonstrations over the coming months. Orders are now being taken for this uniquely developed, next-generation equipment, which is available for 2027 delivery.
