Introduced for 2025, Terberg Connect is a bespoke telematics solution developed specifically for the needs of the waste management sector. It creates and visualises a ‘digital twin’ of your physical hardware systems – bin lift, body, and chassis – enabling remote, real-time diagnostics that support fast and efficient onsite repairs, as well as aiding customers with fleet management requirements. Whether the vehicle is thousands of miles away or just across the yard, you get a full, accurate picture of your refuse collection vehicle (RCV) as if you’re connected via a cable.

Now integrated onto Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK production lines, each automatic bin lift and RCV is fitted with a Terberg Connect hardware module. This connects to the vehicle’s CANbus and shares data via 2G and 3G, enabling seamless connectivity with components such as the engine, drivetrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Built to automotive specifications, the hardware module is extremely durable. It operates from -40°C to 85°C, has been EMC tested, and is IP67-rated against dust and water ingress.

Real-time data for first-time repairs

Terberg Connect enables remote diagnostics in real-time, sharing incoming fault codes with Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK to allow service engineers to quickly apply the right fixes to any issues. Currently, this is available for all bin lift information with further development for other product lines taking place over the next six months.

“GPS vehicle tracking allows us to find and allocate the closest field service engineer with the most suitable skills for repair,” said Rob White, General Manager, Service Operations, Dennis Eagle. “The system’s remote diagnostics aid in ensuring they’re properly equipped with the right parts for the job. That way, when they arrive onsite, they can get a vehicle back on the road first time, minimising downtime and maximising efficiency.”

All new Dennis Eagle chassis and bodies, as well as Terberg Matec UK bin lifts, are supplied with Terberg Connect as standard. It is also possible for it to be retrofitted to your existing fleet. “Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK understand the demands of the waste industry and the needs of those working within it,” added Rob. “This bespoke telematics system has been designed to rapidly fault-find and increase first-time fix rates, supporting vehicle uptime across both new and existing RCVs.”
