Ketna Mistry, Senior Digital Marketing Executive at Dennis Eagle
I’ve been at Dennis Eagle’s Warwick office for four years now as part of the Sales and Marketing team and was recently promoted to Senior Digital Marketing Executive. In fact, I celebrated my fourth year just last month.
That’s tough! I think I’d say it’s fun, crazy, and creative. It’s a very dynamic working environment so I often get very busy, and as I’m involved in a wide variety of different activities it sometimes leads me in directions I don’t expect!
Put simply, my role is to oversee the business’ various digital marketing platforms; everything from social media to email marketing to our internal communications. I like to think of it as acting as the shopfront for both Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK by creating compelling content that excites and engages our audiences.
Is there such a thing? My day tends to be spent planning and producing content for our Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK digital channels. This can involve preparing suitable written copy and creating interesting assets that appeal to our target audiences, working across all levels of the business to support internal channels, or overseeing projects that require photography or videography. I frequently travel across our multiple offices and to customer sites to capture footage and conduct interviews. This gives me the opportunity to meet different people, increase my understanding of the industry and how we operate, and continue building important relationships. Beyond that, I’m always thinking about the next best thing I can do to support the brands.
Prior to working at Dennis Eagle, I worked as a Communications Executive for a professional membership body that supported chemical engineering. Before that, I spent almost a decade working in various roles from Marketing Operations to supporting and leading email and SMS communications for a global non-governmental organisation. I also had a short stint as a freelance journalist for a South Asian showbiz website and met a few celebs along the way! Very different to the waste and recycling industry!
I’d always wanted to move to a digital marketing-based career, and this role offered me the opportunity to do just that. I knew absolutely nothing about the waste industry at the time, so it was definitely a learning curve! When I started, it felt like coming full circle because I used to walk past the factory nearly 20 years ago when I used to work at an embroidery company that used to be around the corner from where we are.
This role offers so many opportunities for creativity and the autonomy to drive my ideas that I haven’t looked back since joining. The people are wonderful to work with, the industry is really interesting, and the ability to express myself creatively has been a breath of fresh air. It’s very rewarding to see how both my career has evolved and how the brand has evolved in the time I’ve worked here.
I get great satisfaction from seeing people, whether it’s our customers or our own team members, enjoying the content I put out there. Knowing we have such a loyal following inspires me to want to do more and do even better.
I was really proud of my role in helping our Blackpool office win two Lancashire Red Rose Awards earlier this year. I worked closely with Plant Manager Oliver Minett to support the submission and it was a lovely surprise when we won.
I always strive to take our content to the next level and am constantly on the lookout for potential projects to elevate our brand and add further value. At the moment, I’m working on growing our social media following and strengthening our brand identity across the digital world.
I’m very passionate about creating a positive culture at work that helps the local community, so am often involved in supporting the business’ corporate social responsibility activities. In recent times, this has included organising Macmillan coffee morning fundraisers and encouraging the team to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I’ve also been actively trying to improve the biodiversity at our Warwick site by planting wildflowers on the Dennis Eagle grounds and will soon be introducing bird hotels and bug houses. The aim is to roll this initiative out to our other sites in due course. I’ve always believed in the importance of doing good within society and love to highlight positive stories and messages across our digital channels.
I’m a very outgoing person so love to meet up with friends for lunches, weekend trips away, and even the odd concert or two. I am a big nature lover and get outdoors as often as I can to do some gardening. I can also be found in the gym working on maintaining my general health and wellbeing, and who doesn’t enjoy the occasional Netflix binge?
I really do love what I do at Dennis Eagle. If anyone ever has any content suggestions or ideas they would like to share or want to see more of, I am all ears and very happy to collaborate so please do reach out to me at ketna.mistry@dennis-eagle.co.uk.
