Our Merthyr Tydfil depot is a thriving hub of activity, offering everything from vehicle washing to full refuse collection vehicle (RCV) refurbishment that can extend vehicle life by up to five years. Also a DVSA MOT automated testing facility and tachograph repair centre, the now 15-bay workshop is a far cry from its 4-bay, one door predecessor where its journey first started. Now a team of six workshop technicians, two fabricator welders, and ten field service engineers, the depot oversees a broad array of different RCVs from multiple manufacturers and does everything it can to be as accommodating of customers’ unique needs as possible.
“We’re a very dedicated team here with an unwavering commitment to our customers,” said Dan Prosser, Regional Service Manager, Dennis Eagle. “It’s not just support for RCVs that we’re able to offer but truly valuable knowledge and advice from experts who have been in the industry their whole lives. We know first-hand the challenges our customers face, whether the declining state of our highways or the increased demand for kerbside sorting, and work hard to provide essential services that keep things running as they should.”
A key change that’s making a huge difference to Merthyr Tydfil, and indeed our wider Service Network, in 2026 follows the integration of Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK’s Aftermarket teams. This integration sees customers benefit from one unified, exceptional service, enhancing their experience and delivering greater value through seamless support, improved first-time fixes, and faster response times.
As a result, all Service Centres now need to be contacted for the following services:
“We’re ready to adapt to whatever our customers requirements are and through the recent integration are now ideally placed to deliver an even better service than ever before,” Dan added.
Per tradition, this year our Merthyr Tydfil team celebrated St. David’s Day at the depot with a number of Welsh flags raised around the office and a welcomed serving of Welsh cakes. To properly mark the occasion, we asked some of our most valued customers to give their take on working with us over the years.
“Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has a long-established relationship with Dennis Eagle based on open communication and mutual respect – a relationship I anticipate is going to last many years. We are supported on a daily basis, from the regular maintenance of our vehicles to emergency repairs. In fact, over the Christmas period the depot even managed to service the same number of vehicles and emergency repairs in three working days as we would expect in a full working week! This ensured we had the support we needed to keep all our services running as usual, even with unexpected weather conditions such as snow and flooding. We are very pleased with the level of service and support we receive from the team and feel confident that Dennis Eagle will do everything in its power to enable us to offer the best possible services to our local community.” – Ioan Vantu, Transport Manager, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council
“We have an excellent working relationship with Dennis Eagle and the team at Merthyr Tydfil with whom we’ve had repairs and maintenance contracts for our fleet of eight eCollects since delivery of our first electric RCV in 2021. This includes a collection and delivery service, an immediate response to any breakdowns or vehicle faults, and a quick turnaround for safety inspections, servicing, MOTs, and repairs. Dennis Eagle has also carried out specialised work upon request on our fleet of eight diesel RCVs and have been proactive in identifying long-term maintenance savings by replacing our eCollects’ floors and completing full body refurbishments of our diesel RCVs, potentially extending the life of these vehicles for up to three years. The level of service, technical support, and working relationships that have developed over the past five years are first-class.” – Peter Dixey, Fleet Manager, Newport City Council
“Our working relationship with Merthyr Tydfil Service Centre is excellent, vital to underpinning and sustaining the well-established Dennis Eagle products in Swansea Council’s fleet. Merthyr has been key for us in terms of fleet renewal programmes, particularly when volume changeovers are involved. Their support during these transitions, by attending to warranty issues on a daily basis, has assisted significantly to minimise disruption and downtime. Highly supportive and responsive, Merthyr Tydfil Service Centre ensures good people with good skills are always available to us, providing a high level of aftercare that others should aspire to.” – Mark Barrow, Fleet Manager, Swansea Council
“Cardiff Council has a fantastic relationship with our local Dennis Eagle depot at Merthyr Tydfil. As Dennis Eagle vehicles make up the vast majority of our HGV fleet, this is extremely important in order to keep our operations running smoothly. Response times, quality of workmanship, customer service, and support from Daniel Prosser and his team at Merthyr Tydfil are all exemplary. The team has supported us greatly over the past few years and regularly goes above and beyond to help our organisation. Notably, they have provided excellent assistance with modifications to new split-back vehicles to offer improved efficiencies following feedback from the end user. The Merthyr Tydfil team was superb throughout the process, despite the modification proving more complex than anticipated. The service and support we receive from them is second-to-none.” – Mathew Hallam, Workshop and Compliance Manager, Cardiff Council
