Small but mighty

One of our more compact but no less productive RCVs is the Olympus Mini, making it the perfect vehicle for narrow routes in the city or countryside.

The Olympus Mini RCV is a tough but efficient rear-loader with an excellent compaction system. Available in three volume options – 6㎥, 7㎥ and 8㎥ – it’s designed to be easily mounted on a wide range of other manufacturers’ 12V and 24V chassis or can be supplied as complete vehicle using Isuzu or DAF platform. The Mini maintains an overall body width of 2,000mm across its variants to help navigate areas with restricted access and tight turns, such as city centres and rural lanes where manoeuvrability is critical.

“The Mini is a customer favourite amongst those that have one on their fleet,” explains Tess Jones, Technical Sales Support Engineer, who helps Dennis Eagle customers specify their perfect RCV. “Its small stature means it’s easy to operate and can quickly and efficiently collect in areas with restricted spaces, making it perfect for organic garden waste and general domestic rounds as well as recycling materials.”

Manufactured to the highest standards in the UK, the Olympus Mini body is designed and built for reliability, easy maintenance and operation. It features an integrated bin lift on the tailgate, but for true flexibility it’s also possible to specify an open back. It has only two central greasing points in the body and tailgate for easier maintenance. With high compaction ratios and nominal compaction cycle time of 15 seconds, it’s a popular choice for the most demanding waste collection operations.

Leading waste and resource management company FCC Environment has recently added its two Olympus Mini vehicles to its fleet in Herefordshire to support residential collections.

“For these rounds, we needed a vehicle capable of handling restricted-access areas,” says Brian Ashby of FCC Environment. “Herefordshire has many narrow, winding and hilly lanes. When access is a challenge, the Mini gets the job done—seamlessly complementing the Dennis Eagle vehicles we already rely on to serve residents.”

Beyond its manoeuvrability, the Olympus Mini brings additional benefits, thanks to Dennis Eagle’s comprehensive technical support, training and spare parts service—already well-established for FCC Environment’s fleet, which includes 26t ‘Narrow Chassis’ Elite+ vehicles.

“Working with a single supplier has provided numerous advantages,” Ashby adds. “As a long-term Dennis Eagle customer, I know its technical support is readily available, ensuring a smooth transition when integrating new vehicles into our fleet.”
