Location: Bridgwater, Unit 15 Colley Lane Industrial Estate, Bridgwater, TA6 5LB

Hours: 45 hours per week | 9 hours per day between 06:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday - Looking for flexibility? We offer 40-hour and 26-hour per week options to fit your needs.

Salary: between £40,000 and £49,935.60 pa DOE (based on 45hpw)

 

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for leadership and workshop excellence? We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Workshop Chargehand to join our Aftermarket team!

In this hands on role, you’ll lead workshop operations, manage personnel, and ensure vehicles are serviced, repaired, and prepared to DVSA standards. You’ll be the first point of contact for customers, oversee job planning and documentation, and promote a strong health and safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and plan daily workshop activities and staff development.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers, build quotes, and manage expectations.
  • Oversee job progress, service sheet sign off, and real time invoicing.
  • Inspect and repair chassis and specialist equipment, ensuring compliance with DVSA and ISO standards.
  • Maintain workshop and outside areas, promoting safety and good housekeeping.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Time-served experience in RCV or similar equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and practical ability across body and chassis work.
  • Confident in reading wiring diagrams and managing workshop documentation.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001/14001, DVSA standards, and relevant legislation.
  • Level 3 C&G/NVQ in Motor Vehicle or equivalent, plus a current PLG licence.
  • Self-motivated, customer focused, and able to lead with professionalism.
