A workstation for the modern refuse worker

Elite+ Chassis Dashboard

We used our unrivalled experience in the waste industry to create a workstation to suit the needs and wellbeing of RCV drivers and crews.

We’ve improved the safety of drivers, crews and everyone around the RCV. We’ve also improved the vehicle’s operational efficiency . But above all, the Elite+ has been ergonomically refined to give the driver more control than ever before.

The major development of design and comfort marks the Elite+ as the next generation of refuse collection vehicle for an ever demanding industry.

Enhanced, refined and ergonomically redesigned, the Elite+ cab is based on its highly acclaimed predecessor, the Elite 6.

Independent tests found the Elite 6 cab provided drivers with the best direct vision of any truck on the UK’s roads. But we’ve made it even better.
The changes have been led by customer feedback and our determination to continuously improve.

As a result, the Elite+ is more comfortable, better equipped, easier to operate and we’ve even improved direct vision. The Elite+ is an outstanding workstation for drivers and crews and an even safer vehicle for the communities in which it operates.

We took the safest cab on the road and made it better

Low seating position helps eye contact

The low position of the driving seat puts the driver closer to eye-level with other road users. This encourages direct eye contact which helps them understand what other pedestrians, cyclists and drivers are intending to do. This improved communication also directly improves safety.

All the options to suit your needs

The low-entry, walk-through Elite+ cab offers seating options up to Driver +3 in both Standard and Narrow width vehicles. But whichever you choose, it has been ergonomically designed to provide more space and comfort than ever.

Ergonomics: put the drivers in control

Drivers will appreciate the ergonomic design of the Elite+. The controls not only have clean lines but also a very user-friendly touch and feel, thanks to the use of new materials with improved finishes. A similar approach applied to the organisation of the switch bank has led to a more natural and intuitive arrangement of the controls.

Fine-tuned to suit the individual

The enhanced adjustability of both the seat and the steering column enables drivers to position them to their precise, personal needs. And to make sure everything is in exactly the right position, the screen is mounted on a ball and socket joint. This not only allows drivers to angle it as they see fit but also makes room for a second screen if needed.

More comfort for the crew

Our designers have also turned their attention to the needs of the crew. The Elite+ has up to three separate seats to help provide them with their own space. The recessed outer seat makes getting in and out of the vehicle even easier. There’s all-new ambient lighting throughout which provides a practical and well-lit in-cab experience.

Designed for 21st century convenience

Modern working practices have also been considered and incorporated into the Elite+. The cab now has plenty of USB ports for mobile devices. There’s room for more storage in the header locker and net. These are both easier to reach as there is more space above the driver’s head and we’ve fitted larger locker doors. And after listening to our customers, we’ve provided more cup holders.

To see and be seen

The best direct vision improved

The Direct Vision Standard, devised by Transport for London, rated
the Elite vehicles (Standard and Narrow) higher than any other truck.
And they were the only HGVs with slam doors to receive a five-star
rating. But design innovations have enabled the Elite+ to provide
drivers with even better direct vision.

The road-friendly RCV in your communities

At a glance, the Elite+ looks reassuringly familiar. This RCV is
designed not to appear intimidating to other road users and the
low-seated driver will be at eye-level to most of them. Of course,
the Elite+ has been put through crash safety tests to ensure it meets
latest standards, including Reg.29.03.

Innovations at the heart of safety

The introduction of up to three individual seats for crew members
enables the outer seat to be recessed slightly. And with the third
crew member sitting further back, the driver has better near side
vision. In addition, the larger rear windows on both sides of the cab
also improve direct vision.

Why seeing is believing

Enabling drivers to see as much of the road as possible helps
reduce accidents and provides major benefits for operators. You
can save time and money by reducing insurance claims, save vehicle
downtime by needing fewer repairs, and save the costs of paying for
replacement parts.

Well-lit for safe operations

The bright, durable LED corner beacons are squared off to ensure the RCV is easily seen. Along with the front-mounted strobes and running lights, they not only alert other road users to the vehicle’s presence but also provide excellent illumination to make the crew more visible and help them work safely around the RCV.

Superb access to low-entry cab

It is both easy and safe to get in and out of the Elite+ on both sides. The driver and crew have just one anti-slip step to climb. Entry to the
cab is still the lowest on the market, at just 495mm from ground-tostep. And the recessed outer seat makes access even easier.

Improved access design

Larger panels have been added to our bus doors, increasing the driver’s field of view. There are also new door handles and optional central locking. These new aluminium extrusion doors have close-fit hinges, allowing for a tighter shut and cleaner lines.

A more relaxing and comfortable place to be

The ride quality has been improved by the development and introduction of better mountings. And the increased cab insulation reduces noise reaching drivers and crews inside, enabling the Elite+ to provide a quieter and less stressful working environment.

Narrow Vs Wide

Wide models with wide bodies can collect greater volumes, which is useful when volume is more important than payload, such as collections of light, bulky plastic and cardboard.

They benefit from stability and comfort provided by front and rear air suspension.

The Narrow chassis is ideal in built up urban areas, narrow access roads or country lanes. Rounds are often quicker and tyre and insurance costs reduced as these vehicles are more manoeuvrable.

Payload also benefits from the reduced unladen weight. And packing is even better because it uses the same packing system in a smaller body.

Narrow vehicles use front Air Assist suspension and rear air suspension for comfort and stability.

ELITE+ WIDE 2500MM

The Elite+ has a wide range of axle configurations, enabling flexibility of operation. Is compatible with a range of Dennis Eagle and other manufacturers bodies

Achieves greater volume when combined with our standard width body. This is useful when volume is more important than payload i.e. when collecting light but bulky materials such as plastic and cardboard

Elite+ Chassis Wide
  •

The two-axle Elite+ Wide 4x2 is ideal where weight limits rule out three or four axle vehicles and where tight where tight access make larger vehicles impractical.

This chassis is a popular choice for environments such as built-up urban areas with tight terraced streets or winding country lanes and means roads can be negotiated with less risk of vehicle damage.

  •

The additional payload offered by the Elite+ Wide 6x2 Mid-Lift helps maximise rounds efficiency.

For example, a 4.05 metre wheelbase vehicle can operate at 18 tonne GVW as a conventional rear-loader but at 22 tonnes with the Mid-Lift.

In larger vehicles, where the axle can be raised, there are also benefits in terms of manoeuvrability. This not only helps speed up rounds but also helps reduce tyre scrub, leading to lower overall maintenance costs.

  •

The Elite+ Wide 6x2 Mid-Steer is more manoeuvrable thanks to the mid-steer feature. Being more manoeuvrable can speed up collection rounds but also produces other significant operational benefits.

It means the RCV is less likely to mount kerbs in tight access situations, so reducing tyre scrub and replacement tyre costs. And other obstacles, from bollards to parked cars, are also more easily avoided, reducing repair costs and insurance claims.

  •

The Elite+ Wide 6x2 Rear-Steer provides exceptional manoeuvrability. The drive axle is set forward from the rear steer axle and the drastically reduced turning circle this provides improves efficiency significantly.

  •

This work horse of local authority fleets has double drive rear axles which still make the Elite+ Wide 6x4 an attractive proposition.

It is a reliable solution for customers faced with issues such as hilly terrain while the core strength of this robust RCV make it the obvious vehicle for harsh winter conditions.

  •

When biggest is best, making the Elite+ Wide 8x4 Mid Steer is the best you can get and can be fitted with Olympus body sizes up to and around 27 cubic metres.

Its outstanding payload it is most commonly used for wheeled bin collections on large, modern housing estates.

ELITE+ NARROW - 2250MM

The Elite+ Narrow is ideal in built up urban areas, narrow access roads or country lanes

The reduced width means it is less likely to make contact with the kerb or parked cars which means reduced tyre and insurance costs and offers improved packing due to using the same force as the standard over smaller surface area

Gives maximum payload due to reduced unladen weight.

Elite+ Chassis Narrow
  •

The two-axle configuration makes the versatile Elite+ Narrow 4x2 an obvious choice where weight limits prevent the use of a larger RCV.

It is also the popular choice on rounds with limited access locations, such as tight urban streets, back streets behind commercial premises or winding country lanes.

And as it is even more manoeuvrable than its Wide chassis counterpart – another option for restricted access locations – it is even less likely to suffer vehicle damage.

  •

The additional payload offered by the Elite+ Narrow 6x2 Mid-Lift makes it very efficient.

For example, a 4.05 metre wheelbase vehicle can operate at 18 tonne GVW as a conventional rear-loader but at 22 tonnes with the Mid-lift.

For larger vehicles, when the axle can be raised, there are also benefits in terms of manoeuvrability. One major advantage of this is reduced tyre scrub, leading to less damage and lower overall maintenance costs as a result.

  •

The Elite 6 6x2 mid-steer is available in standard and narrow width formats.
One of the main operational benefits is offers is reduced tyre scrub, meaning less damage when negotiating tight roads or areas with restricted room for manoeuvre.

  •

The Elite 6 6x2 Narrow rear-steer provides optimum benefits in terms of manoeuvrability.

The drive axle is set forward from the rear steer axle, and while the resulting rear swing-out may require familiarisation training for drivers used to mid-lift, mid-steer or 6x4 configurations, the drastically reduced turning circle it offers will enable proficient operators to reap rewards in terms of ease of use and efficiency.
