Wishing Chris Dunn a very happy ‘roving retirement’!
“Chris has been a valued and loyal customer for over a decade,” said Matt Horwell, Regional Sales Manager and Chris’ day-to-day Dennis Eagle contact for more than 16 years. “Chris consistently adopts a strategy-based approach to his orders, ensuring his entire team is engaged when selecting and introducing new vehicles to their fleet. We’ve cultivated a fantastic working relationship over this time, and while I’ll certainly miss our regular conversations, I wish him all the very best in his next venture.”
Chris’ career began as an Apprentice Engineer for plumbing and heating. Several years later, he took on roles in local government, during which time he joined Grimsby Borough Council as a Highway Operative and soon climbed through the ranks to Highways Manager, which included many health and safety executive (HSE) responsibilities. In 2003, his crucial assistance with HSE within the council’s waste department led him to the new position of Waste Operations Manager, marking the very beginning of his relationship with Dennis Eagle.

Over the past 20 years, Chris has become a highly regarded expert within the refuse industry, with a prolific career spanning waste disposal, fleet services, and street cleansing, as well as his tenure as Contractor Manager for the operational depot at North East Lincolnshire Council. He’s worked with a broad range of vehicle manufacturers, assisting with vehicle improvements and purchasing millions of pounds’ worth of equipment ranging from waste collection vehicles to winter maintenance vehicles, street sweepers and electric vehicles to small items of plant.
“Working with Chris and having him as a customer has been a privilege,” added Richard Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director at Dennis Eagle. “His profound industry knowledge is evident, and he’s always willing to share this expertise. We wish him well in his new role and travels.”
While retirement often means slowing down, in Chris’ case it’s quite the opposite! Over the past few years, he’s been accompanying groups from around the world on excursions to Austria, France, Germany, and the Baltics. His specialist travel knowledge surrounding Switzerland in particular promises to help his fellow tourists discover and enjoy the area even more, with its magnificent glaciers, Bernina Express trains, and countless cable cars his area of expertise.
